Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to join their Theatre team as a full-time Apprentice ODP. This is initially a secondment contract for the duration of the apprenticeship with milestones set. The training will involve a 3 year degree programme affiliated with Buckinghamshire New University (Campus-TBC). Your time will be spread across block placements both clinically with Bedfordshire Hospitals and the University along with the theory aspect of the programme

The entry requirements for this apprenticeship include:
• GCSE grade C/4 or above in English & Maths or equivalent qualifications such as Functional Skills / Key Skills / Level 2 Numeracy & Literacy• Level 3 Academic Qualification or Access to Higher Education Diploma.
Those with appropriate clinical experience but with no prior academic qualifications may qualify for the portfolio route which includes relevant evidence and formal written assessment.
Successful applicants will be paid:
Year 1- Band 3
Year 2- Band 3
Year 3- Band 4
Band 5- upon completion once HCPC Registration received
The programme will be commencing from September 2025 (subject to employment checks).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Operating Department Practitioner Apprenticeship course is a three-year education programme, which leads to a Level 6 degree qualification. Department Practitioner through successful competition of the BSC (Hons)The apprentice will work towards progression into the post of OperatingOperating Department Practice training programme. The three-year programme will be with Buckinghamshire New University.
This is a developmental role. The ODP apprentice will undertake an apprenticeship programme, which leads to the attainment of a Degree and Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. The apprenticeship programme combines both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers. The apprentice will be based, as an employee, in a particular organisation, in a specific setting, but will experience working in alternative organisations/area’s and settings in order that they gain a wide appreciation of many health and care contexts and are able to fulfil all the requirements of the programme.
