Jean M. Stillwagner, 83, of Cumbola, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville, after brief illness.

Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the Steve and Josephine (Narog) Guzley.

My mother was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a women of strong faithe and she instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. My mother was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be missed by everyone whose lives she touched.

Jean is survived by her husband, Edward H. Stillwagner, son, Edward Stillwagner and his wife, Goldy, and grandsons, Dylan and Dayn Stillwagner.

Jean wanted private services with only family in attendance. Services have been entrusted to Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Pottsville.

Cecelia S. Caulfield, 86, of Knoxville, MD and formerly of Pottsville passed away on Thursday, August 1st.

Born in Forestville on June 6, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Vladimir and Anna (Bobrick) Charowsky. During her high school years at Minersville High she enjoyed cheerleading and sang regularly on a local radio show. After graduation she trained then worked as a medical lab technician at the hospital of the Univ. of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Cecelia married Paul James Caulfield of Pottsville in October of 1961.

Throughout her life Cecelia maintained a deep Catholic faith and generously supported many charities with financial and volunteer contributions. In midlife Cecelia became a successful certified massage therapist. Living near Harper's Ferry West Virginia, she developed a keen interest in studying Civil War history. Cecelia loved animals and was a "mom" to several rescue dogs and cats over the years.

In addition to her parents, Cecelia was preceded in death by Paul, her husband of 42 years as well as siblings Virginia Hoover and Walter Charowsky. She is survived by two daughters who loved her very much; Jacqueline Caulfield, RN, of British Columbia, Canada and Dr. Ann Caulfield, of Phoenixville, PA; two amazing grandchildren, John and Gwyneth and her first great grandchild expected in November; sister Patricia Sharockman, of VA and brothers, Myron (Minersville) and Charles (NC) Charowsky; ten nieces and nephews and Maggie her beloved 4-legged companion.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 9th, at 11 am at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville with Father Hubert officiating.

Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.

The family request contributions in Cecelia's memory be sent to: St. Patrick R.C.C, Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, Pa 17901.

Marguerite E. "Maggie" Zimmerman, 91, of Pine Grove, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, in Providence Place, Pine Grove.

Born on August 23, 1932 in Pine Grove Township, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Margaret Bohr Aungst.

Marguerite worked at Fox Knapp and then in the Warping Dept. at Guilford Mills, Pine Grove

She was a member of Outwood Lutheran Church, Pine Grove. She was also a member of the Pine Grove Senior Citizens and Tremont Senior Citizens.

Preceding her in death were her husband Eugene M. Zimmerman; a great grandson, Paul Eugene Derfler; four sisters, June D. Rumpf, Ruth Ann Fidler, Mary Philumalee, and Betty M. Zechman.

Surviving are three daughters, Diane and husband Roger Barr of Tremont, Doreen and husband Michael Derfler of Pine Grove, Deborah Burns and significant other Mike Firestone of Denver; three sons, Russell Sr. and wife Jane Zimmerman, Ricky and wife Phyllis Zimmerman, Robert and wife Ann Zimmerman, all of Pine Grove; 13 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren; three sisters, Corrine Klinger and Doris Moyer, both of Pine Grove, Claire Leisey of Florida; a brother, Allen Aungst of Pine Grove; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11:00 A.M.at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Pastor Barry Spatz officiating. There will be a viewing on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Outwood Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to Outwood Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, c/o Henry Snyder, 706 Oak Grove Road, Pine Grove, PA 17963 in her memory.

Willis H. Spotts, 76, of Primrose, Cass Township, passed away on Saturday at Schuylkill Center.

Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Willis H. Spotts, Sr. and the late Esther May (Weiderhold) Spotts. He was a 1967 graduate of Pottsville Area High School.

Enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1968, he was a “Shore Party Man”, serving in Da Nang with the First Shore Party Battalion, First Marine Division. He was wounded twice during his tour, and was awarded two Purple Hearts, as well as several other decorations, including the Combat Action Ribbon and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He left the Marine Corps as a Sergeant after four years of service.

He then gained employment with Allied Chemical Corp., Marlin. He retired as the Safety Coordinator from Honeywell Films (successor to Allied Chemical).

In his leisure time, he was a volleyball coach for both CYO Volleyball at St. Vincent Parochial School and for Minersville High School.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, the former Darlene Ann Wolfe, in 2020. He was also preceded by three brothers, Francis Spotts, Kenneth Spotts and Dennis Spotts.

Willis is survived by two sons, Richard Spotts (spouse, Tammy), Danville, and William Spotts, Primrose; a daughter, Angelina (Rose) Crowe, Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Dylan Spotts, Houston, Texas, and Miranda Spotts, Danville. He is also survived by his remaining siblings, Janice Green (spouse, Michael), Atlanta, GA, and Earle Spotts, Minersville; nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Friday from 6:00 P.M. until services at 7:30 P.M. Interment with military honors will be private in Mount Peace Cemetery, Branch Township. The family prefers donations to the military service organization of the giver’s choice.

Randy Kent Nicolosi of Old Coram Road, Shelton, CT, passed away on Friday, July 19 th , 2024, at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT, with his wife and brothers-in-law by his side. He was 63 years old. Many friends and family visited or kept in touch with him during his stays at Yale hospital and Connecticut Hospice.

Born on Friday, July 27 th , 1960, in Hoboken, NJ, Randy was the older brother of Bonnie Lynn Nicolosi. He is predeceased by his parents Raymond and Joan (Janowicz) Nicolosi and his cousin Peter Tritak. Randy is survived by his wife, Marie; sister Bonnie Nicolosi; Aunt Carole Tritak; brothers and sisters-in-law Robert and Patricia
Patusky, Christopher and Kiernan Patusky, and William Patusky; and many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Randy graduated from Wayne Valley High School in Wayne, NJ in 1978 and then went on to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY, where he received both a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Materials Science and Engineering.

Randy began his career as an engineer at IBM in Fishkill, NY, before going on to work at EDO/Barnes Engineering as a Material Scientist designing Infra-Red detectors, which is where he met Marie. At Schick Razor Company, where Randy worked as a Manager and a Research Scientist for 25 years, he had many successes,
including developing the first a-Diamond coating for razor blades, a technology that was essential for the creation and success of Schick's flagship products Quattro TCS and Hydro.

Randy was an intelligent, generous, loving and creative person. He bought thoughtful and unusual gifts for people, sometimes inspiring new interests. Randy easily made friends with people he met along his life’s journey, and he devised fun and eclectic traditions at work and with family. He enjoyed sharing his talents and experiences, and he could tell a good story by drawing upon a deep well of collected anecdotes.

Randy was an avid audiophile, keeping up on the latest in music trends and acquiring new equipment to achieve the best sound, and he owned and shared freely a large and varied CD collection. Many of his friends also benefited from receiving deals when he switched out components, cables, and speakers. His active and curious mind also pursued interests in art, books, movies, magic tricks and numismatics (coin collecting), and he assembled an impressive collection of these items that reflected his and Marie’s shared life perspective.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252.

A Mass of Christian Buriel in Randy’s name will be celebrated on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from St. John XXIII R.C.C., 307 Pine Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252 followed by internment at St. Bertha’s R.C.C. Cemetery, Tuscarora, PA.

Steve A. Lucas ,age 52, Hegins, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - E Norwegian, Pottsville.

He was born on Saturday, April 22, 1972, in Pottsville, PA, a son of Harold H. Lucas, Sr. and the late Lillie J. Harner Lucas. Steve enjoyed the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie J. Lucas, aunt, Rhonda Ibrahem, aunt, Rita Wolfgang, uncle, Kenneth Lucas.

He is survived by his father; a brother, Harold H. Lucas, Jr. of Oregon; two aunts, Maggie Gibson, Cherlyn Reiner and several cousins.

No services are scheduled at this time.

John J. Biros, 66, Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and founder, owner of Biros Utilities, Inc. of Sheppton, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5th, surrounded by his family.

John was the son of the late John Biros and Jean (Laskowski) Biros. He was a man who had a very strong work ethic that was developed while working along side his father at Biros Iron Works. He became a talented welder and fabricator. The strong work ethic he developed at an early age made him become a man who didn’t like to try doing things, he did them. To people who knew him, he was a man with a very big heart. He was a strong supporter of our country and the troops that served and are serving. There was a time when the “Traveling Vietnam Wall” was in the Hazleton area and had several panels damaged due to a wind storm. John, along with his son Jonathan brought the damaged panels back to his garage and repaired and returned them so people could continue to visit the display. He soon ventured into larger business’ in the septic and excavation services. This led him to forming the current portable restroom rental company, Biros Utilities Inc. He was very proud of the company he had built from the ground up. Though health struggles did persist over the last years of his life that included a courageous 9 year battle with cancer, he truly found joy in growing the company he loved and traveling with his wife. Seeing his grandchildren growing up would often bring a joyful tear to his eye. He grew a strong connection with his family in Slovakia and always enjoyed talking and visiting with them.

With a desire to be involved in his community he was in volved in multiple community groups and movements which led him into politics where he served as a three-term supervisor for East Union Township. As a supervisor he often performed numerous repairs to municipal equipment in good faith and never asked for compensation ever as he was so proud to represent his community. His Catholic faith guided him to be a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church in Sheppton.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sibling, Joseph Biros, Linda Biros and George Biros, along with a great grandson, Anthony Biros.

John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann (Smulligan) Biros along with their children, Jonathan Biros, and wife Melissa, Stephen Biros and Jillian Pecika. Eight grandchildren survive, Jonalynn, Preston, Landon, Natalia, Madison, Teaghan, Jonathon and Alexander.

His sister, Margaret, wife of John Reznick, and two brothers, Michael Biros, and his wife Kimberly, and James Biros and companion Pam Eisman also survive, along with nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a loving extended family in Slovakia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church in Sheppton on Saturday, August 10th at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at the church from 9 AM until the time of the mass.

John will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Sheppton, immediately following the mass.

The Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, Ringtown, is honored to assist John’s family during their time of need.
