Hugh Grant was at an Italian soccer match wearing a Panerai Luminor Base, Cole Walliser attended a Clarins launch party wearing his Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, Kim Kardashian was also in Audemars Piguet when she blew out her birthday candles wearing a Royal Oak Mini Frosted Gold, and Paul Forman was at a Make-a-Wish charity gala wearing a Santos de Cartier.
Numerous stars were spotted at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala, including John Legend in a Hublot Classic Fusion Orlinski Titanium White Alternative Pavé, Damson Idris wore a IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar, and Winston Duke was seen sporting a Jacob & Co. Palatial Big Date.

Hugh Grant: Panerai Luminor Base
Hugh-Hugh Grant was totally on brand this week when he was seen watching an Italian soccer match in Como wearing a Panerai Luminor Base with a black sandwich dial, large Arabic numerals, and crown guard. Housed in a 44mm stainless steel case, the model Grant was wearing dates from around the 2000s with its Luminor logo at 12 o’clock and Panerai inscription at 6 o’clock. (Since 2003, the Luminor models have both the words Panerai and Luminor at 12 o’clock and the “OP” logo at six o’clock). A new version of this iconic model retails in the region of $6,500 and you can find a pre-loved timepiece for around $4,000. -Panerai
Kim Kardashian: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Mini Frosted Gold
Another celebrity spotted in Audemars Piguet this week was Kim Kardashian. Photographed by a friend while she blew out her birthday candles, all of us watch lovers couldn’t fail to notice the cute Royal Oak Mini Frosted Gold model on her wrist. Released earlier this year the “Mini Oak” comes in a 23mm size and features the brand’s frosted gold technique. This ancient Florentine jewelry finish is achieved by hammering the gold in such a way that it looks like it has been coated in diamond dust. Kim was wearing the yellow gold version that appears to match both her outfit and her birthday cake! You can expect to pay $34,400 for this model.
Cole Walliser: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar
There were a number of A-listers at Clarins Double Serum launch party this week, including filmmaker and music video director, Cole Walliser. An avid watch collector, Walliser was pictured wearing his Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in white ceramic. It isn’t only the case that is crafted from white ceramic, but also every link of its integrated bracelet, all of which have been finished to the same standards as the brand’s steel and precious metal versions. The dial comes with four white counters against a dark blue Tapisserie motif, providing a striking color contrast with the ceramic. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in white ceramic is priced at $93,900.
Damson Idris: IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar
British actor Damson Idrisalso was in attendance at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala wearing anIWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 “Boutique Edition” (Ref. IW344205). Idris’s 42mm “boutique edition” comes in rose gold and indicates the day, date, month, and moon phase on elegant counters against a navy-blue sun-brushed dial. The watch is powered by the brand’s in-house automatic Caliber 82650, which can be admired through a sapphire crystal case back. The timepiece is available with a choice of a white or green dial, or in stainless steel with a white dial. The blue version is priced at around $38,800.
Paul Forman: Santos de Cartier
French/English actor Paul Forman – who you will recognize from his role as Nicolas de Léon in Emily in Paris – attended the Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles Wish Gala this week wearing a Santos de Cartier. Forman sported the large Santos model (39.8 mm) in stainless steel that comes with a silvered opaline dial, sword-shaped hands, and the French brand’s iconic seven-sided crown set with a faceted synthetic spinel. The timepiece is powered by the automatic Caliber 1847 MC and comes with a water resistance of 100 meters. This model is priced at around $9,600.
Winston Duke: Jacob & Co. Palatial Big Date
Trinidad and Tobago actor Winston Duke – best-known for his work in Black Panther (2018), Us (2019), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) – slipped a Jacob & Co. Palatial Big Date on his wrist for his night out at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala. One of the more sober models in the Jacob & Co. line, this 42mm stainless steel timepiece comes with a black onyx dial and features a big date at 12 o’clock and a power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock. It is powered by a manually wound movement to keep the timepiece slimmer and more elegant on the wrist. This version will set you back $12,000.
John Legend: Hublot Classic Fusion Orlinski Titanium White Alternative Pavé
American musician and Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award winner, John Legend, was spotted in Los Angeles this week for the fourth annual Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala. He looked particularly dashing in a white tuxedo paired with one of Hublot’s latest Classic Fusion Orlinski Editions. Hublot’s collaboration with French artist Richard Orlinski began in 2017 and now includes numerous models. The version chosen by Legend comes on a new integrated bracelet, which like the dial, is facetted following the artist’s signature angular style. The timepiece is housed in a 40mm polished titanium case adorned with 3.79 carats of diamonds, making it the perfect accessory for a gala evening. As for the price, this model will set you back around $52,500.
